Sick as a dog again.

Unlike the last charming upper respiratory infection, I have nosebleeds with this one. Have hit the cough-till-you-puke stage a day early, and I get the added fascination of seeing what a little blood does mixed with mucus and cough-induced foam.

In other news, went up to Birmingham last night to see My Alamo; they kicked ass and were their usual delightful selves, not to mention the fact that they were almost embarrassingly excited to see my new tattoo... I guess seeing your band's logo carved into a fan's flesh will do that for you. ;)

Off to puke. Laters, y'all.

I has a head cold. Feel like death warmed up.

Managing to write a little, although not much. Managing to tidy up the house a bit, too - chucking stuff out, clearing old paperwork, that sort of thing. It's a very...liberating process.

Back to work tomorrow. It's a good thing I love my job!

No fair, starting a 91 hour week of nights and I has a cold. Balls. Thick sinuses and everythin'! Pity me!

OK, enough of that. Quick update and then I must go and clean the floors (ever noticed I update more when I has floors to clean? Sad but true.):

Zico appears slightly better - he drooled on me last night when he saw the syringe, and hissed at me tonight. Not quite his usual song and dance but it's an improvement. Also, he has become a bit of a daddy's boy and does not want me to hold him because I'm the evil bastard with the syringe. Still waiting for lab results, expect them to get in tomorrow.

Sorted out the pygmy mice, because on observation the population was bordering on violence. Got 10 subadults out of there, 9 of which went to the shop and the tenth... er... under the bed somewhere. *Oops* Don't tell Slay.

The Burm is called Oliver, Oli for short, yes named for Zico's drummer. So hopefully he will turn out to be happy and gentle and shy and affectionate. (Calling him 'Long' was just asking for trouble). *Sigh* Now I need to sort out a house for him.

Q: Why did the hedgehog cross the road?

A: To attract the attention of the vet nurse driving home.

Poor little sod, saw it staggering along the gutter just down the road from home so parked up, went and got it. No obvious problems apart from being young, underweight, and out in daylight. You get a lot of juveniles caught out by the change in the weather and all they need is a bit of TLC and feeding up. So into a spare box he went with a water bowl and some ferret biscuits; as soon as he got in the warm he made a nest and went to sleep but as soon as it got dark he's been up, burying his water bowl and stuffing himself with ferret food.

Provided it's quiet tonight (*crosses everything*) he'll be off to Tiggywinkles tomorrow and they can deal with the malodorous beast. In the meantime he's pottering around in the box happily trashing it, but safe from cars, at least...

That's all for now, catch ye later!

I have caught Slay's cold.

Those of you that know me know that I am a bit of a bloke when I'm ill, and this virus is a bit of a humdinger. (Last time I felt this rough I flew to Milan via Stockholm and almost blew out my eardrums, but that's another story.)

However. I have nowhere I have to be until Monday, so I'm going to take care of my bloody self for once. Thus, being ill is much much easier when:

1 - Modern cold meds are strong enough to have one nigh on tripping one's bollocks off.

2 - One can curl up in bed wrapped up nice and cosy with a cool drink by one's side.

3 - One has a laptop on one's knee and a supply of DVDs by one's side.

I'm almost cheerful, especially considering that I've just watched the interviews on the Helloween DVD and OMG. So. Slashy. (Markus talking about how when you're bored on the tourbus you just curl up in a corner with someone and get to know them better to pass the time? Dani relating how he and Andi share various bottles of wine rather than partying, and how he and Markus share an apartment and-- yeah, my brain asplodey.)

I also have my sketchbooks and pencils here, just in case I get bored. Speaking of which, last night I could't sleep so I drew another picture inspired by [livejournal.com profile] duffnstuff's new fic, Kings Of Fools - specifically, this bit:

'This thing was definitely a man. His eyes, although red and almost pulsing with intense amusement, had a human shine to them, and his lips bled crimson where his sharp teeth grazed the skin. His cheeks, paler than his left arm, but darker than his right, flushed with delight and his broad, upwards-turned lips twitched at the corners. Greasy, limp hair as black as his clothes fell to his shoulders, where a piece of white cheesecloth stained brown with old blood was knotted about his throat.'

Beware the Jabberwock, my son, the jaws that bite, the claws that catch! )

Only one other bandfic has ever moved me to draw a couple of characters from it - [livejournal.com profile] arrys_girlie's High Seas adventures. But that description gave me such a clear picture in my mind's eye I just had to have a crack at it....

Anyway, I'm going to curl up with a Gamma Ray DVD and blow my nose a lot. I love my laptop.

I'm up. I have to buy catfood, drop the dog off at kennels and catch a bus to Oxford.

Still feel like shit.

Please, please let this go well....

ETA: Haven't seen [livejournal.com profile] arrys_girlie around for a few days - you alright, mate?
mad_andy: (Kai facepalm)
I feel worse, I now have a temperature and some swine has filled my sinuses with hot lead.

Just... great.

I am freezing. It's been cold in the studio all day and it's in mt bloody bones now. I'm cold and I'm sick - but I'm still going to see [livejournal.com profile] glammetelkitten on Sunday (wheee!) and stalk rockstars. Although I shall be too full of cold to actually do anything....

Were it not for the fact that I now have Tattooist Pumpkin on the back of my right wrist, I would say it's been a shit day.

The headache has gone, but now I can't keep anything down. Hey ho.

Uber quick post.

As reported by [livejournal.com profile] adrenalized, it appears that several of us have gone down with Phil's throat virus. I feel like absolute shit and it's getting worse. I've got another worry but I need to talk to the quack about it.

But time off work is not going to happen, because we're short handed this week anyway and one of the others has just gone off sick. That leaves three of us. So unless and until i actually pass out on the prep room floor I'm stuck there for ten hours a day until the weekend.

Had a shit morning and the afternoon is looking worse.

Somebody, please, shoot me. It would be a mercy killing. Really.

Am sick. It's just a head cold I picked up in Italy but damn, do I feel rough. I'll confess, what with one thing and another I'm in the mood to just curl up and let the darkness take me--

But there's this little core of steel that says: Don't you dare. And digs its heels in.

I guess it's always been there. The difference is that now?

I'm inclined to listen to it.

Too much to deal with. Too fucking sick to care.

Today I feel sick. The kerfuffle about RF is not making it any better. Friends are up in arms.

And not only do I have a ten hour shift tomorrow, but we've got tix to go see Magnum at the Astoria tomorrow night. And Slay won't go on his own. Pussy. *Groan*

I want to cut my own head off...

Really good gig last night - Army Of Freshmen were good, MC Lars was a wanker, American Hi Fi very good, Bowling For Soup fantastic - but stopped at McDonalds for a drink on the way back to the bus. Fizzy orange. I thought it tasted a bit rank, but then McDonalds stuff often does.

By the time we got to the bus I was feeling queasy. I started throwing up when we got back to Oxford, and I've been heaving my guts all night, not to mention having such an appalling headache when I got home that i honestly thought I was going blind...

The head is just a bit stiff this morning, but my poor guts. Yarrrrgh.

So now I'm going back to lie on the sofa, cuddle the dog and feel sorry for myself.

I have a cold. Some git has filled my sinuses with hot lead.

Slay's home. Therefore I don't want to lie on the sofa because it means I have to look at him watching the TV. The damn thing has been switched off the whole time he's been away, and it was the first thing he did when he got home.

Still. EddieMuse hasn't abandoned me.

Much as I love writing, I resent feeling like it's the only thing I can do because my husband's presence is so large that the only place I can take refuge is my own created worlds. Inside my own head. *Grumble*

And I feel like shit.
