Ah yes, and I finally remembered to go digging for this video on YouTube. I'm not, on the whole, a huge fan of Talking Heads, but this song (and its accompanying video) was a big, big part of my teenage years. I still occasionally think of it as my 'theme song'.

There are worse roads to walk than the road to nowhere - at least the scenery is interesting, and you meet all sorts of really cool people along the way.

Thanks to everyone for their very kind words about Bender the chameleon - you have no idea how much I appreciate it.

The flooding locally continues apace - Oxford residents evacuatedas flood waters rise - hard to believe that this is happening less than twenty miles away. We're untouched by it here, thankfully.

The RAF have even been sending the Sea Kings of 22 and 202 squadrons inland - whenever I catch a glimpse of a big yellow helicopter on the TV, it makes me smile - because my dad was stationed with both squadrons, 202 the longest, when he was in the air force. Some of the happiest memories of my childhood are tied up with big yellow helicopters - our school was under one of the flight paths they used to get to the Humber estuary, and if we were out at playtime they'd swing low enough for the winchman to wave out the door at us. Plus every year at the Sergeants mess kids christmas parties, Santa used to turn up in a big yellow helicopter, and I believe I've told this tale before!

Anyway: For anyone interested, this is what I'm on about - pictures of big yellow helicopters. )

Ah, happy memories.

Although when I was checking out the flood story, this other one caught my eye:

Lovemaking hedgehogs disturb the peace!

Having had pairs of hedgehogs bonking in my garden, I can attest to the alarmingly loud noises they make!

And so thus I head off to Abingdon, to see if the shop has floated away and play with my beloved reptiles... before coming home to bed!

Have a nice day, chaps. ;)
