I watched the ceremony at the Cenotaph and bawled like a baby when the 112 year old chap wouldn't hand over the wreath - he wanted to lay it himself.

I wish I could've seen it - I'm stuck at work. :/ I remember watching the Cenotaph ceremony with my grandad years ago, before he died - he was RAF ground crew during WWII, and it felt really strange/special to be watching it with someone who was actually involved in one of the World Wars.

Actually we have a teeny tiny war memorial in my village, and just before Samhain (since I was going to be away on the night itself) I went round the local graveyards leaving food and flowers; I had one white rose over at the end, so I left it on the memorial. It was still there when I looked the other day... presumably it'll have been joined by a wreath or two when I go back later on...
