Pinch and a punch for the first of the month and all that.
OMG, we're leaving for Asheville NEXT WEEK.
I'm getting collywobbles.
What if everybody hates me?
*Twitch*
Yes, I'm a worrier. Or, to put another way, a panicker.
OK, calm down. Calm. Down.
(OMGOMGOMG)
In other news, I'm working on a new, original story that I'm hoping is going to wind up novel length. Provided that it does, I'm going to submit it to agents and whathaveyou. Thus far it's going pretty well;
arrys_girlie has been reading the bits and pieces I've written so far and says it doesn't suck. I assume she would tell me if it did.
I've had a couple of ideas bouncing around in my head for a while regarding vet nurses, the Animal Rights community in the UK (and, it must be said, elsewhere) that get so out of hand, and trying to put them together in a way that might make people think. And shake them up a bit. And this is where I have to make a confession...
navigatorsghost answered a question I set her about a novel - and made the comment: ...the hero gets the glory and the monster gets the girl...
And boom, there it was in my head. Only there isn't a hero - except, of course, unless you count the main character, a genetically engineered super-soldier/astronaut/slave called Mandrake. Yes, perhaps that idea is a bit hackneyed. But I like to think I've given the story a bit of a different spin...
So yes. Sorry Rathie. But I owe you one yet again!
OMG. Less than a week to Asheville. (Well, this time next tuesday we'll be leaving for the hotel where we'll be spending the night before hitting the airport.) OMFG!

Date: 2005-11-01 09:08 am (UTC)O_O Gaaaah! And it's not just you! I have a good idea and next thing I know, some other bugger's gone and done it! Even when they're someone I couldn't possibly have known or spoken to!
I think I'm going to either stop thinking, or else start wearing a lead-lined hat so my ideas can't escape. *sits in the corner and mopes*
(Still, 'twould be churlish of me not to wish you luck with your novel. Have fun and I hope it goes well!)

Date: 2005-11-01 09:18 am (UTC)It was only the second half of the statement. *Feels rotten now* I still think your version would kick botty. Only mine doesn't have a hero. Except the monster. Er. I think I'll shut up now, though.
*Creeps off with tail between legs*
(If I get any more good ideas, they're yours. Honest.)

Date: 2005-11-01 10:28 am (UTC)I mean, if you'd emailed me and said "hey, can I do this with your idea?" chances are I'd have said yes anyway, so it doesn't make that much odds. Besides, as you say, it'd be quite a different story to the one I had in mind anyway. Maybe we should both write 'em and see how different, or similar, they come out. :)
(All this assuming I ever get time to write a full length novel to start with, of course... *wry expression*)

Date: 2005-11-01 04:37 pm (UTC)(And also your novel idea. What is it about monsters? I RPd Eddie in my regular chat room last night and it was fun, lol. And nobody guessed it was me, either.)
And now you've got *me* worried that people will hate *me* in Asheville. Dammit! Must. Stop. Worrying. You too!

Nobody's gonna hate you. *grin* Please don't worry like that!
