Still no Rockfic - I suppose it'll be tomorrow at the earliest before it's back up. I've been mooching around LJ, leaving comments like small droppings in various journals...
Nice image there, Andy. Go you.
Anyway.
Got my cousin's funeral next Thursday. (Well, my mum's cousin really but we're a complicated clan, and she was closer in age to me, really.) Going to be a bugger sorting it out with work. *Meh* They can bite me if they don't like it.
She's had oesophageal cancer for about three years, gone through hell with chemo and passed away on thursday night. I'm going to miss her. Her husband is the chief engineer on a cruise ship; before she'd got sick she was starting to accompany him on trips, as their kids were old enough to make shift for themselves (what with university and whatnot).
Just beginning to enjoy a bit of freedom - and this happens. Jesus. How fair is that?
She'd arranged for the whole house to be redecorated and new furniture bought and delivered when she went into the hospice. She was dying and she made it so that the house was - as far as possible - fresh for her family; it wasn't the sofa she spent so long lying on, that sort of thing.
What sort of courage does it take to do that?
I need to write.
