I'm in a remarkably good mood.
Remarkable because the heating is still, as per yesterday's entry, banjoed. And I was sure I was on morning inpatients, and thus turned up at work at 0745 only to discover that I am, in fact, on afternoon inpatients and need to be at work for 1pm.
*Facepalm*
However.
It's warm in the surgery, and getting warm in a morning do lift the spirits rather when one has been freezing one's knackers off for several days.
And, as I took the dog to work with me, he's now warm too. And I decided - unilaterally - that as I'm fed up of being cold I would pop into Homebase and buy a couple of fan heaters, which I have now done. One is humming away merrily downstairs and one is going up here in the bedroom. I'm going to pop back to work, pick up the dog, drop him off at the kennels where he's going to spend christmas, and come back here for a few hours until I have to go back to work.
But it's going to be warm.
Huzzah!
So, the day begins cheerfully.
Morning all!

The guy came to look at the heating. Between 8 and 12, they said - he arrived at 11:50.
And promptly told me that the system is banjoed, we need a new pump and he needs to order the bits. When will they arrive?
Wednesday.
We fly to Iceland wednesday.
I hate my life.
Oh, and I'm working today and tomorrow, which I had forgotten all about until the practice manager called me this morning. I do not need to go and do five hours on the reception desk. I'm weepy now, so will undoubtedly be ready to bawl myself to sleep by the time I get home...

Breathing through my nose hurts like hell. It hasn't hurt this much since I quit doing speed. *ow* *ow* *ow* Either the air is very dry, or I've got a sinus infection or something jolly like that. Just what I need, the cavities in my head sealed off when I'm going to be flying on wednesday. How terribly jolly that will be, yeah?
Oh, and my eyes have dried out. *ow*#2 Weird.
Heating still not fixed. Engineer due out today - and he'll probably be pissy, because Slay screamed at the poor woman who rang yesterday saying he'd been held up and wouldn't be with us till today. I don't blame them; I know their priorities are homes with young children (down,
stonefinder) and the elderly. The latter I can sympathise with, at least.
So instead of being able to do whichever job is closest to home - or at least organise his own schedule - Slay went out of his way to insist that we were the first call of the day. Which means - if the engineer does it - that he'll probably be pissy, and who's here to take the flack?
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
Not Slay.
In other news, there's another chapter of Journeyman over at Rockfic. After such a long dry spell the Muses appear to be falling all over each other to complete this one - which is a very pleasant change.
Ah, christmas. I hate it so.
