However.
This one rocks in at 149 words. Close enough for government work...
It probably doesn't make a lot of sense unless you've read Journeyman and Infinite Dreams - both archived, of course, on Rockfic. Silly little drablett, entitled:
The Beast Numbered
“Oh, come on Bruce...”
“I said no! It’s not fucking funny.”
“Oh, I dunno,” said Adrian, scratching his chin, “it’s pretty good.”
“Goes with the song,” added Dave.
“Yeah,” chipped in Nicko, eyes alight with amusement, “the devil’s often represented like that innit? No point gettin’ all arsey ‘bout it.”
“And I suppose you approve,” snarled Bruce, turning on the final enclave of Janick, Rod and Steve.
Janick smiled. Rod looked angelic, and Steve just raised an eyebrow.
“Fine,” growled Bruce, and stormed off.
“Touchy ‘bout that, inn’t he?” grinned Janick.
“I cannot,” rumbled a previously unheard voice from the shadows, “imagine why. I rather like it.”
Nicko laughed and slung an arm around Pan’s shoulders. “Me either!”
And to the sound of laughter the band admired the figure of a handsome black goat that had been chosen to rise from the stage during The Number Of The Beast...
