Ours are either these big, plastic orange road blocks, a metal fence [read: bars, not thick mesh like in your picture] people try to squeeze through, or a long line of burly, beefy security guys. The last is actually the most effective. Those guys are like a brick wall. I had to pleasure of being thrown back by one once [at a New Year's event in NY], and it was like being pushed back by a boulder. xD

I'm short, too, so most barriers look big to me. I spend every concert I go to on tip toes, twisting my neck to see. :/ I'm lucky, I guess, that Rick is a drummer. Since he's on a drum riser, I can actually see him. Well, the drums anyway. I had to all but hop in place to see Phil and Co.
