So anyway.
This was going to be a post about how even in the short time I've been back nursing I'm pissed off with it again. Not the nursing, per se, but that's exactly the point. If I wanted to be an administrator and cleaner, I'd do it during the day.
I got a 40 minute break last night. I leave for job #2 in a little over an hour. Hope I don't fall asleep at the wheel...
Oh, and Slay popped in to work last night on the way back from the Zico gig to tell me how it all went. (While I did insurance forms. I'm so diligent.) He not only got to roadie for them (with Chris' girlfriend's brother) both at load in and out, but also got to have a ride in the blue van. He's got three day's driving/roadie work for them next weekend... and I could go too, if I wasn't. Fucking. Working.
Oh yeah. I'm so chuffed.
And they (Zico, that is) might be supporting Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (waits for
rockfic to squee) at Oxford - on a wednesday night, which means I can go... I'll just have worked a night followed by a day before I go to the gig. Hmm.
But instead of having a long-ass whine about how badly my working life sucks and how revoltingly jealous of my husband I am, I'm going to show y'all some pictures that cheered me right the fuck up when
rdyfrde posted them on the RF boards late last night. Two this morning, hackshully. Good job I work alone, because when I saw them I screamed - and I mean hollered, top of the lungs stuff.
Awww.

Goofballs.

Tuff!Rays - and darn, don't Henjo look good?

Very arty...

And the one that made me scream OH MOTHERFUCK ME RUNNING at the top of my voice...

...even if it did make me giggle afterwards for the way Dirk is holding his stomach in to make his abs look better. *Snicker* Even so. Jesus Christ boys. *Drool*
Then the individual shots, which are just as scream-out-loud-worthy:

I think Kai's lost some weight - and at least he isn't wearing too much eyeliner this time.

Thoughtful Henjo, looking awfully ravageable:

Dan. The way these pics look, I'd even do him. (And in the group shots, he's got those lovely long legs encased in leather trousers. *Falls down ded*) I want to mess his hair up. Heh.

And of course, Dirk. This picture made me make funny noises and lick the screen. And just think, I'll be meeting him on Saturday, if the Powers are willing... *dies at the very thought*

Mmm. The things I could do to that man. *Moan*
So yes. Friday I fly out to Hamburg, for the Gamma Ray fan party on Saturday night. I have a hotel, I have the car booked into the long stay car park, I'm all sorted. I have no idea how to get from the airport to the hotel, of course, but I figure that I should be able to find a tourist information thingy and if nothing else there's always taxis. *Snort*
The party starts at five, and the band will be there... so wish me luck that Dirk is more-or-less single and has a thing for dumpy English women over 30 with lots of tattoos - and a massive, desperate crush on him!!!
I can't wait - even though I am nervous as hell about travelling on my own. See, this is the first time that I'm going overseas to a gig (event, whatever) TOTALLY on my own; usually I'm meeting up with someone over there, or have arranged to meet up with someone or am going with someone... but not this time. The fact that the fan party is being held at a venue that is in a less-than-salubrious area of Hamburg is also making me twitch a bit. (St Pauli - right on the fucking Reeperbahn, FFS. *Squeak*)
Still. Apparently it's a lot more trendy than it used to be, so with any luck it'll be more like Soho in London - lots of nice little coffee houses between the sex shops and the peep shows, and a remarkably affable atmosphere.
Fingers crossed, right?
Sooo. I'm going to poke around the 'net for a bit, then go to work. *Sigh* And hope that Zico, when played loud enough, will keep me sufficiently awake not to die in the screaming battlezone that is the A34 at rush hour!
Oh! And before I forget. I downloaded an Ayreon album last night - The Human Equation - and fuck me, it's awesome. :D I think
rdyfrde has managed to convert me... ;)

Date: 2007-10-31 03:30 pm (UTC)In case you want to listen to some BRMC in the off chance Zico does open for them...I put together a Zip file yesterday for Hec. It's basically the set list they did in Asheville, minus a cover of "I Don't Wanna Be a Soldier" and a bonus track I don't happen to have. http://www.sendspace.com/file/5ko54u

Date: 2007-10-31 09:00 pm (UTC)The two front passenger seats rotate to face backwards (presumably not while driving, *snort*). Behind the front seats there is a cupboard/worksurface thing, and behind that - against the walled off bit for the equipment - is a pallet which has a mattress on it. (When Slay was in the van, that was covered in spare bits of equipment.)
Filling up the last bit of space is a bench-type seat.
There are no windows behind the driver and passenger side doors, so on the whole the interior of the van is dark.
Apparently, when they stay at a hotel or whatever (with all the gear in the van) someone gets to sleep in the van. Sort of a combination watchdog/money saving measure.
There. Helpful...?
