Blind Guardian:
Beneath These Waves (WIP)
Crossovers:
Gardens Of The Sinner (WIP)
Lightning
Thunder
Are You Experienced?
Blast From The Past
Something In The Water
Mile High
Overall Impression:
Hmm, more variety than I thought, actually. A smattering of epics, but a nice number of one-shots too.
My favourite story this year:
That would have to be No World Order. It just came together really well, and considering how long it is it really didn't take long! That's what I like, epics that don't muck about and be all primadonna on me. ;)
My best story this year:
As in best-written, I suspect it's either Thunder or Lightning. Which were written as a pair, and are supposed to be read together. Although I guess it would be Dark Ride for emotional content. Not too sure.
Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Gardens Of The Sinner, hands down. Maybe it's too complicated, maybe it just isn't interesting enough - but I really want to work on it some more, because I think it's going to be the best Yoz story yet.
Most beloved by readers:
Heh, that would be Journeyman! Everyone seems to be in love with Pan - no bad thing. And anything with Nicko in it tends to be popular too!
Most fun story:
That comes down to Artistic Licence or Hair. Both of them were great fun to write, as well as still making me smile when I re-read them!
Most sexy story:
Hmm. Difficult, that. Thunder, I suspect. certainly it was the one that made my head go boom with the mental images it created....
Story with the single sexiest moment:
For me that would be No World Order, the chapter where Yoz and Dirk are making love in the Rosicrucian House; the morning scene when he's watching her tattoos. That gives me goosebumps, that one.
"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:
You know, that's a hard question. I don't think I've done one of those this year - although after last year's goat sex moment I don't think there's much of anything that I won't do!
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Thunder, because of how savage I wrote Markus. I'd always written him as this gentle creature, although I always try and get across how clever he is, and the potential of that big, beautiful man.
Hardest story to write:
Emotionally, Dark Ride. It deals with themes and emotions even I am not always willing to share, or to deal with. Just from a writing point of view, it would probably be Spansex. Although why that one was so like pulling teeth, I have no idea!
Easiest story to write:
Dark Ride just flowed, once I'd decided to actually do it. It just sort of happened....
Biggest Disappointment:
That NWO and Gardens haven't been better received.
Biggest surprise:
The excitement when I started posting Journeyman again! That was very nice indeed, but a huge surprise. I thought everyone would have forgotten about it.
Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
*Ahem* That would be Old Dogs. It was so a self-insertion fic, although I did try to not make it quite so bloody obvious. I think it says more about how I would like to see myself than it does anything else....
Final thoughts:
That's 22 stories, if you include the WIP, which is a hell of a lot more than I thought I'd produced. So it's not been a bad year writing-wise, although I would like to write more gen and het next year. And branch out with more of the horror-type themes, and perhaps even some more real type of stories. As in, believable tales of the road - perhaps! But overall, considering that several times this year I've thought I would never write again, it's not a bad haul!
What do you think?
And now I should really finish packing, get a shower, call my sister... *erk*

It might just be that it's still a WIP. I generally avoid WIPs until they're done, to avoid the frustration of being left hanging for...ever. I've poked around it a bit, but I don't want to get too involved until it's done. From what I've seen, it isn't a quality issue, and I'm very much looking forward to either the day you finish it and I can devour it, or the day I get sick of waiting and devour it anyway.
Have fun on your trip - try not to worry too much :)

Date: 2006-12-31 09:52 am (UTC)Ironically you are one of two authors (Lia being the other) that I've read all of the stories posted in the 2006. Though unlike Lia there was only one story that I didn't like, The Dark Ride, for personal reasons.
