Anyway. In other news...I finished the night shifts. Left me feeling logy and tired and washed out, as per bloody usual. Axl had a good walk this morning; we encountered half a dozen of his doggy friends and they had a good belt round the field together. One of them is a whippet, but it still can't keep up with my boy!

Although. I realised today that living with Axl is no fun. He's such hard work all the damn time; the whole point of getting a lurcher pup was that it would learn to fit in with me from the word go. And that isn't what happened.

It's my fault, I know. But this morning with him was a rather sad reminder of how little I enjoy spending time with my own dog. Everything is a battle with him - and he is anything but affectionate. Saluki cool standoffishness, I guess. That'll teach me. I dunno. He's still bloody awful with Jack and Webster, has been since the start....

Would rehoming him make me a serial dog dumper? I find myself thinking about how nice it would be if all the cats could come downstairs and not worry about being chased. *Sigh*

And finally, a happy thing. Had a lovely long chat with glam_ang this morning - first time for a very long time indeed. And it was very lovely. :D

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I like that guy in the middle. Just wish I could remember his name.

As for Axl, the question is would he be happier somewhere else? If the two of you are not meshing, I don't think it is wrong of you to want you both to be happier and less stressed.

If he's not compatable with you or the other pets, maybe rehoming would be the thing to do. It's obvious you're not happy with the situation. Why persist if it's not getting either of you anywhere?

Rehoming is not a bad thing. I often wish that more people would realize that sticking with a not-exactly-wonderful situation is not the best thing for anybody, whether we're talking kids (I usually think about that one when someonelike Susan whatshername kills her kids rather than going, "Oh my god, I can't handle this, here someone--anyone--take them), spouses, boyfriends, jobs, animals, etc. Life is short--for you, Axl, the cats, even Slay--so if you can find a more ideal situation for Axl...why not?

Thanks hun - I'm glad you replied, as you've actually met him. *Sigh* I wish you could have him too. But it's just not possible, and things are coming to a head...
