Huge, huge thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday! (Even [livejournal.com profile] rdyfrde who knows I am a miserable git about the whole thing.) Your kindness is very much appreciated, and brought a smile to my face. ;)

Most of family and RL people ignored it as instructed, which was a bloody relief. I hate it.

Ugh, another year... yeah well. Wotevah. Right?

Got taken out to dinner and to see Indiana Jones And The Crystal Skull. Dinner was actually rather fun and even slightly romantic, in a gentle sort of a way. We went for a stroll in the park afterwards and held hands. It was... nice. Comfortable and relaxed and a very pleasant change to my morning at work, which had been sent straight from Satan's arsecheeks.

Unfortunately we then went to the pictures, which was almost a disaster; see, I have some rather large anxiety issues about cinemas. But it was all going to be OK, Slay had pre-booked tickets and we got there nice and early so we could pick a seat where I could be on the end of a row.

Wrong; pre-booking the deluxe cinema (gives you access to a bar where the aircon is turned so high the drinks don't need ice) online gives you an allocated seat but you can't choose where.

They don't tell you this.

So we got placed smack in the middle. In the middle row. In the very centre of said row.

Cue panic.

Slay talked me down, and I sat there and tried to relax; every time someone else came in my heart rate shot up and by the time the lights went down I had tears making my vision all blurry. It wasn't very nice at all.

But the seats are large and the aisles wide, and nobody sat next to me so once the film started I could sort of almost tune out the fact I was walled in by strangers. (Walled in by 'normal people', I should say.)

As for the film...er. Not his best. It had good bits, but overall it was not worth the effort. I know the Indiana Jones movies are all based on a cliched idea but COME ON YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS.

My heart sank when i realised it was aliens. The ultimate fucking cop-out. Hate.

And a refrigerator? Ground zero of a nuclear blast? I don't care if it was lead lined. NO.

However, 65 or not I would have cheerfully volunteered to get in there with a scrubbing brush.

Funnily enough by the end of the film my brain was idly spinning stories about the aftermath in hangar at area 51; can you imagine the poor bastards who had to go in with clipboards and record files and recrate all that stuff? Fix it and put it back and all the mayhem that could occur?

I'm tempted. Very tempted. Eh, like I don't have enough WIP.

But overall, the film was... blah. Which is a shame, because I adore the first two and like the third. Oh well.

Bedtime.
