Jobs are like buses.

You don't have one for ages, then two come along at once. *Sigh*

Chris wants me to come down and hang out at the shop for a day, see the business, make sure I get along with everyone, have a chat about what both sides want and all that good stuff. He's really really keen to employ me.

A couple of days ago I got a call from the vets. Yup, the vets I left. They have a night nurse system, involving two nurses that work the night shifts on a week-on week-off basis, with the day nurses having to fill in between them any times when either of the night nurses are off for whatever reason. Thing is, one of their night nurses has had enough and wants out.

Considering how much screeching and howling most of the girls do when asked to do night shifts, the practice manager is keen to employ someone who is sensible and enjoys doing nights.

Would I fill in for them?

The subtext was that they might offer me the job - I've already agreed to work a week for them, and I'm going in tomorrow for a chat with head nurse and practice manager. Thing is, if they do offer me the job... do I take it?

Working for Chris will initially be two days a week. I'm going in to see him on Monday for the day, and I'll find out from him then what the gen would be. Is he looking for someone to be just a shop assistant, or someone who can help him manage the place, push the business forward, run breeding projects, do talks in schools?

Whereas with the night nursing, it's a week on and a week off. That's a lot of fucking hours. But it's the aspects of nursing I enjoyed; not so much contact with the vets, less contact with idiot clients, less of the internal politics - just nursing of sick animals, and emergency medicine/triage on night calls.

And the money's good.

ARGH!!!

Another interesting little snippet of information came my way as well. Slay was taking the bus home and bumped into Dave the other apprentice from the studio - or rather, the other EX apprentice from the studio.

They got chatting (because despite not being the sharpest tool in the box Dave is an affable lad) and, of course, covered the subject of the studio. Dave said that he and they had parted company on mutual terms. Yeah, right. Chris finally got the balls to tell him to stop hanging around the place. *Snort*

And then Dave said something very interesting indeed.

He thinks Chris (tattoo boss Chris!) got rid of me because I was too good.

And he couldn't bear the thought of employing someone who was better than he. Especially when that someone had the audacity to be a woman.

So instead of pushing me to get to the stage where I could bring people in and charge them, work me as hard as he could and then sit back and watch the money roll in he pushed me away - ah, vanity, they name is man!

How stupid.

Anyway. Jobs. Nightmare.
