Update on Sam.
For some time now I've had a sneaking suspicion that Sam is not, as I was told when I took him on as an underweight, dehydrated hatchling with heater burns, a corn snake.
Something not quite right about the shape of his head, the patterning, and of course the temperament.
So I did a little mooching on the 'net tonight, because the name 'yellow rat snake' has been poking at my memory. Something I read somewhere.

That is a yellow rat snake.
It could be a picture of Sam The Bastard himself. Except that he has a rather more scarred jaw from his adventures as a youth.
Care requirements? Identical to the corns.
Temperament?
Feisty. At best.
Size?
Well, corns top out at five feet. Usually, although you get the occasional monster will go to six.
These guys, however... well, he stands a good chance of ending up at eight feet long.
Oh my....
