Slay has this really really bad habit of waking me up before he goes to work.

It's my day off. Do not be waking me up at HALF PAST SIX in the blasted morning. It makes me cross.

More news on the beastie front - yeah, I know, I can bore for Britain on the subject, so you can skip this bit if you like. )

In other news, I haven't heard back from Zico Chain. Oh well, even if we don't end up getting passes for the Nottingham show it was still incredibly good of Chris to ask! Can't wait to see them again. Damn I love that band.

O.O

Well now, 'tis good to see you boys and girls on here.

I almost joined my favourite OC in limbo on the way back from the shop this afternoon. Hammering back up the A34 in the driving rain, I've left a nice gap between me and the car in front because I'm a good driver, right?

On my right, the steel barrier of the central reservation. On my left, a fucking great articulated lorry. Right up my chuff, a BMW. Nothing I can do about it, so no point worrying.

Zico howling away on the stereo, cigarette clamped between teeth, car humming through the horrid weather nicely. I have my lights on. All's well with the world.

Which is when, of course, the artic next to me decides to overtake the vehicle in front, and begins to swing out.

Caught between a rock and a hard place.

Nowhere to go. Can't go forward, the cab is already half into my lane. Can't hit the brakes, I'll have the big Beemer in my boot. Can't go right, nothing but steel, can't go left.

Spray and rain is flying, and all this is taking place at about seventy five miles an hour.

I hit my horn, the wheels hit the gravel and the barrier is whistling past my elbow now. The lorry seems to hesitate. I'm screaming through my teeth, hanging onto the wheel which is trying to rip itself out of my hands because of the drag of gravel on one side and the grip of tarmac on the other. The Beemer appears blissfully unaware of what's happening and is still too close, so I can't brake.

Time slows down.

I send a mental goodbye to everyone.

Lorry slowly backs off back into his lane, I hit the gas and climb all over the car in front in order to get away from said Artic Of Deth.

Spend rest of journey home a wee bit wild eyed.

Hug your loved ones, cos at any time that switch can get hit and there isn't a damn thing you can do about it. One day it'll be my time...

...but thankfully, it's not today.

Because I'm feeling clingy today, and because I was tagged by [livejournal.com profile] sidewinder:

List seven songs you are into right now, no matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LiveJournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

1 - Where Would You Rather Be? - Zico Chain. There's going to be a lot of Zico in this list, because they are completely of the awesome. I adore Chris' lyrics, and the drums on this almost make me come on the spot. Oh yes, 'tis THAT good. ('Don't judge me quite so fast, you hide the porn and the whisky glass...')

2 - Brain - Zico Chain. (I warned you.) This is the most fucked up love song ever ever ever. Love it. ('So torn up by all the things that I could never do, so I killed you...') *Heeheehee*

3 - Pretty Pictures - Zico Chain. Cynical lyrics and ye gods but the guitar and bass and drums just work so perfectly together in this it makes me grin maniacally and drive too fast. Every time. ('Do you take what you lust for and never look back...?')

4 - Roll Over - Zico Chain. If nothing else, this reminds me of Guilfest and Paul saying to the crowd "Does anyone else know the words to this one apart from these guys at the front?" Yup, I do striketh again. I would have bounced to this song but I was busting for the loo and would have wet myself. *Snort* Love the song anyway.

5 - The Longest Day - Iron Maiden. Makes me cry. Bloody intense song, powerful lyrics, and Bruce on top form. All about the D-Day landings, and man did they catch the terror of being in the middle of it...

6 - If I could Fly - Helloween. Had The Dark Ride on in the car the other day and fell in love with Andi's voice all over again. Love the song, love the ideas, love the lyrics... damn, I can't wait to see these guys live again.

7 - Blind - Breed77. Oh my but this one is fun to shriek along with in the car. The whole album is astonishingly good, but this song really grabs me and, yes, makes me drive too damn fast!

Mind you, at the moment it's probably more accurate to say I'm digging whole albums rather than individual tracks. The three I'm looking forward to coming out are Food (Zico's new one, hopefully next month), and the new Helloween and Gamma Ray. Then ask me what I'm listening to!

As for tagging people, well... hell, you wanna do it, knock yerself out. ;)
