Update on the bendy snakes
So having been bombarded by offers for a home for the bendy snakes via the reptile forum I hang out on, I drove down to Northamptonshire today to drop them off in their new home. With them went dear Tyson; I'm going to miss him, but he deserves a really good pet home, where he'll be pampered and spoilt. I want to concentrate on breeding the corns, and with him being a common he doesn't fit in with those plans.
So I packed him up, and off I went. Found the place easily enough - and got a hell of a shock when the guy who opened the door was a familiar face! He and his missus are regulars at the shop, popping in every month or so. I sold them their first corn snakes, I believe....
So not only are the little ones safe, but I shall be seeing their new owners on a fairly regular basis!
Small world, innit?
Anyway, we had a good old chat, I took on his feisty male snow corn (to breed with my girls), and the last I saw of Tyson was that he was curled up with the guy's girlfriend on the sofa, comfy and warm and loved. That makes me feel much less like I've betrayed the poor old boy.
So the new corn is called Thumper, and he's settling in nicely. It looks very much as though Noodle and Lucy are gravid (carrying eggs), so Tyson has left us a legacy!
The new mandarin - who rejoices in the name of Mei-mei (little sister in Mandarin chinese, as all good Firefly fans will know!) - is settling in very well indeed. She's eaten her first pink, although in deference to the fact that her breeder told me she was on live I did just that. Something I loathe doing, and would not, under normal circumstances, do; I gave her a live pink. (The mice very obligingly had a litter while I was away.)
And would you believe, the little minx ate it alive? No constricting, just grabbed it by the back end and NOM NOM NOM.
It was the most horrible thing I think I've ever seen.
On the bonus side, she ate so enthusiastically and was then looking for more, so she should eat a defrost very well indeed as long as I get it nice and warm first.
But ew. Mei-mei, really....
Albino bulls come home tomorrow! So far, top of the list for names are Bandit and Boxer; the lady bull snake who is currently in with Zico is called Bandita! Thus far I haven't seen him doing the business, but they're snuggled up under his hide box so we shall see.
And now i'm going to try beating some sense out of some fic, so I'll see y'all later!
