Eggses!

I was just cleaning and refilling the corn's water bowl and peeped round their climbing log to check the moist hide - and saw eggs!

So I hauled the box out, gently removed Lucy and Spectre (both of whom look absolutely knackered), and moved the eggs to a poly box so I can run them up to the shop tomorrow. (They're spending the night in the airing cupboard, with the lid of the poly box lifted to allow air exchange. They're in the sphagnum moss that they were laid in, so they'll stay nice and moist and warm.)

Spectre had a long, long drink then looked up at me, and I swear she had a tired smile on her face. This is her second clutch this year; the first has just hatched, 18 big happy babies from 22 eggs. She seems to have had 7, all of which look good.

Lucy appears to have produced 29, of which 28 look superb. I'll run them up to the shop tomorrow, get them in the incubator. I took a couple of pics on my phone, which I shall put here when I get round to downloading them.

I am so damn excited!

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone! I'll bet Lucy is ready for a nice, long nap!

Bless her, she looks like a skinny shadow of herself! I'll give them both a couple of days to recover then offer them a nice small feed - they should soon put condition back on. Seeing them so soon after laying it's clear just how exhausting the process is for them; considering that snakes aren't considered to have much by way of emotions or complex thought, their body language speaks volumes once you know them!

Plenty of TLC and they'll soon be back to their old selves! :D
