Greyhound news

How long is it going to take?

15 000 dogs a year.

Greyhound racing puts a strain on animal welfare - well there's a bloody shock, eh?

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] evil_lin from [livejournal.com profile] uk_greyhounds for bringing this news item to light.

The builders' merchant was fined £2,000 by a court on Friday after he admitted disposing of the greyhounds without a permit.

That, more than the rest of the article, turned my stomach. It's like, 'Oh it's not WRONG or anything, you just didn't get your little piece of paper first. Check with the right agency first next time and get your paper, and then carry on.' UGH.

It cannot (unfortunately) be denied that a captive bolt to the head is as humane a way as any to kill an animal.

The ethics of doing so...are not a matter for law.

This was the only way that the fucker could be punished, in a legal sense.

Every track has someone like this, and there are thousands more across the country - and people wonder why I can't condone the racing industry any more?
