:D

Damn but I'm getting tired. This is no real surprise though, because since last thursday I've worked every single day - and I'll be doing seven days a week for the forseeable future, or until I get to quit the vets and can start having days off again.

I don't care, though - I'm enjoying myself far too much! I'm learning, and I'm being creative, and I'm enjoying being around the people I'm going to be working with for a long time - with any luck.

Twice today I've been asked to draw something, and have been able to come up with the goods. That's a great feeling, especially when one of the designs (a vine, leaves, dragonflies etc) is really not the sort of thing I usually draw.

I love that it's assumed that I can draw something, then do, and it gets inked... great feeling.

Oh, and hanging around with a bored piercer leads to getting new holes in one. Nurse was staring at the side of my head this morning....

"You don't have much in your ears, do you?"

"Nope," I said, knowing what was coming.

"Are you going to have more?"

"Sure."

"Now?"

"Why not."

"I'll do your tragus!"

Five minutes and a crunch of cartilage later, one tragus piercing.

She was still bored later (it's been a very quiet week for piercing, sadly), so she talked me into getting my conch done. Which hurt less than the tragus, actually, which fact disappointed Jon greatly. He says I'm no fun because I don't fall for all the stupid tricks most apprentices do!

I tell him that's the price for having someone as useful as me on the team, and then he rolls his eyes and sends me to put the kettle on.

Incidentally, this diagram explains the different ear piercings quite nicely. I now have three lobe piercings in each ear, as well as the tragus and the conch in my right. (Nurse tried to suggest doing my left ear as well but I told her she'll have to wait!)

Back to the vets tomorrow. I'll admit, I don't want to go!

*flashbacks into getting her - glances at the pic - helix/rim done and turns green*

Damn, woman, you have some mighty bravery to be able to get 2 in a single day! 0_o that crunch of cartilage made me so sick int he stomach that I am never again getting anythhing cartilage-y piierced....

*hands you a big bucket o' COol Points*

*Laughs* Thanks for the cool points, although I don't deserve them - after everything I've seen and heard at the vets I'm not squeamish at all. And it's a very quick sound, because Nurse is bloody good. Very gentle, very quick and very precise. She's an awesome piercer, and I'm very lucky to have her to learn from!

She is, however, indecently eager to dig many many holes in me!

Yes, yes you do! :P

and yay for quick. Mine probably was relatively so but didnöt feel like it.... *shudders*

So,w aht other body parts does she intend to poke at? :P

*eyes chart*

Yeah I'm just going to stick to my boring lobe piercing. It works for me :)

Spoilsport. *Grin*

C'mon. Just a little tragus?

[identity profile] rdyfrde.livejournal.com 2006-08-16 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I don't think so. Though I will admit the Helix looks interesting. Not that anyone would see it under all of my long hair ;)

As the biggest wuss on the planet, I can honestly say, hand on heart, that my helix piercing didn't hurt a bit, and it didn't go crunch either.

[identity profile] madandy.livejournal.com 2006-08-19 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll get to my helix...

...eventually!

Both in the same day? Right ON! I'd like to get a conch or helix eventually, but after the BLINDING PAIN of the monroe, I'm a little skittish.

And randomly, my dad had a scaffold before he married my mom. On a dare, I think it was, and it lasted a month until Rugby season. Still has the bar.

So it crunched, but did it hurt? I kinda like the tragus, daith and the helix but I'm a wimp when it comes to pain.

I had a helix piercing for about 3 months but I had to take it out because the bloody thing grew a keloid which is supposedly extremely rare for a Caucasian---unless you're of Celtic bloodstock like me.

Sigh.

Oooo! I've got my holes gauged up to a 14 (I think - it fits a belly ring if that helps at all) because it's easier for me to sleep on. (that and my holes used to close up like no tomorrow)

I wanna get my 2nd hole done but...and you're gonna laugh...hard...but I don't like getting pierced. Yeah, I know, I'm a wuss, and I've had a tattoo done, but the piercing of the ears..*shudder*

[looks at the diagram]

O-Ou-Ouch!

You brave, brave mad woman, you.

Good luck tomorrow. I'm actually looking forward to work... but that comes from being on the dole. A week from now, it'll be "Work sucks" as usual. Heh.
